Future Plans

The PC’s commissioned facility report conclusion recommended that the Village Hall be developed into a community flagship centre. To make this all possible the changing rooms will be moved into a separate building.

Sport is a major part of community life in Witchford and for such a small rural village, we have managed to compete at the very highest of levels in all sporting arenas. The village has a huge number of teams, both adult and junior, all of which are enthusiastically coached and have plenty of talented players.  Witchford Playing Field Association (WPFA) is proud to be able to encourage and support that success, by providing facilities at Bedwell Hey Lane. With the increased success of local teams, over the last few years, the number of teams has increased and these facilities have been stretched to capacity, forcing some teams to now play their home games at other venues. Combining this with the age of the fixtures and fittings in the Hall, plus the increasingly high standards required by all Sporting Bodies, the WPFA has decided that the changing rooms and car park area need to be upgraded, to improve the facilities for all to use. Unfortunately, there is insufficient room inside the hall to provide these new facilities that are needed. Therefore, we are considering the construction of a new building, to be located on the playing field to the top right-hand side, offering the following facilities and benefits:

  • Two new changing rooms
  • Referee’s changing room
  • Community meeting room
  • Small kitchen
  • Storage space

So, as well as benefiting the football teams, this project is intended to provide facilities for all, including the existing users and will also enabling new activities to be started. By taking the changing rooms away from within the Hall, it frees up the space inside, which enables the WPFA to look at other improvements to the whole building, so creating lots of future projects and possibilities.
